Head on Truck Accident with Multiple Passengers
Total Amount Recovered: $7,867,507.00
Our client was travelling toward home in Wyoming with his wife and mother as passengers in their pickup truck. As they were driving, they saw another full-size pickup truck driving in their lane toward them. Our client attempted to swerve left to avoid a head-on collision, but it was too late and the two vehicles hit head on at high speed. Their vehicle spun around approximately 270 degrees off the highway, ejecting our client from the truck. His mother was trapped in the vehicle, had a stroke as a result of the high impact, and had to be extricated by emergency personnel. His wife was affected the least by the impact and was able to exit the vehicle on her own. As a result of the motor vehicle accident, all three sustained injuries, but he and his mother suffered the most significant injuries, including but not limited to: chipped teeth, lacerations and open wounds, and bone fractures in many places. They were both life-flighted to the nearest hospital.
All three of our clients spent the next several years doing extensive treatment with several doctors and facilities, incurring over a million in medical expenses. This included surgeries, physical therapy and rehabilitation, dental reconstruction, expensive pain medications, and hospital stays. Even with all the treatment they’ve done to date, there is still more left for them to do and they may never get back to how they were before the accident. Our attorneys worked tirelessly to assist them with their financial demands as they treated. We eventually negotiated a settlement of $7,867,507.00. Our staff was able to reduce their bills and liens where possible to ensure as much money could be saved for their future treatment.

Major Multi-Car Accident Case Results
Our client, along with her four children, was exiting Interstate 15 on the 2700 North exit in Marriott-Slaterville, Utah when her vehicle was involved in a major, multi-car accident. Another driver attempted to merge without looking and collided with the front end of a dump truck towing an additional load. As a result, the dump truck’s trailer came unhooked and spun out of control, hitting eight other vehicles including our client’s vehicle. The impact caused our client’s vehicle to roll several times before coming to rest on its side. Even though our client and her passengers were wearing seat belts and were driving safely, the negligence of the other driver resulted in serious injuries for everyone involved.
Our clients incurred over $300,000 in medical bills, and suffered horrific injuries, including a collapsed lung, crushed pelvis, brain swelling, and cranial hemorrhaging. Our clients then required round-the-clock care, including inpatient rehab 6-7 times a week for several months immediately following the accident, and will likely never fully recover. Our staff worked with the attending physicians and health insurance providers to reduce bills where possible, and were successful in ensuring our clients didn’t have to pay for these costs out-of-pocket. We successfully negotiated a reduction of our clients’ medical bills from $300,000 to just under $50,000. As a result of the negotiations between our attorneys, auto insurance providers, health care providers, and health insurance providers, our client’s medical and legal fees were paid for and $42,000.00 was still set aside in minor trust accounts for the children involved. Despite small insurance policy limits, after our fee and all of the medical bills were satisfied, we were able to preserve $51,000 for Mom, allowing her and her family to return to their daily lives without the stress and strain their accident could have caused.

Hit & Run Accident Case Results
Our client and her sister were driving southbound on 6000 South in Roy, Utah when another driver fell asleep at the wheel, and rear-ended our client’s vehicle, which caused them to lurch forward. As a result, our clients suffered injuries to their heads, necks, and backs, which caused concussions, whiplash, amnesia, and other side effects.
After getting out of their vehicles, the other driver was extremely belligerent and crude, stating he didn’t care about the damage he caused to them or their vehicle. Our client contacted the police but the other driver fled the scene before they arrived. However, because our client had the foresight to collect the other driver’s license and insurance information before he fled the scene, the claims process was much simpler than it would’ve been without a complete police report, and we were able to hold him accountable.
Fortunately, our client had policy limits higher than the state-required minimum. After handling our client’s medical and legal bills, the aggressive negotiations undertaken by our attorneys allowed our client to pocket $50,000 in connection with this accident.

T-Boned Accident Case Results
Our clients, wife driving and husband as passenger and two of their children in the back seat of a Ford F-150, were driving northbound through a green light on 2000 West and 1800 North in Clinton, Utah when another driver traveling westbound on 1800 North ran the red light and T-boned our clients’ vehicle at high speed. The initial impact forced our client’s vehicle into the adjacent lane, colliding with another vehicle traveling southbound through the green light before rolling several times and coming to rest over 60 feet from the initial point of impact.
As a result of the accident, husband suffered from a flail chest, meaning his ribs were so crushed that his rib cage would not hold itself up, but collapsed. Husband had other extensive injuries including a collapsed lung, a shoulder injury that required surgery, and his neck. He spent sixteen (16) days in the hospital following the accident. Husband had over $91,000.00 in medical bills. Wife had injuries to her leg, foot, shoulder and back, amounting to over $51,000 in medical bills. The injuries sustained by our clients and the medical conditions created as a result severely impacted their ability to work, live, and enjoy their day-to-day lives. Our attorneys worked tirelessly to maximize our clients’ settlements and were able to ensure all medical and legal fees were covered. In addition, our clients pocketed $63,000 after our fee was paid and the medical bills were settled to mitigate the losses to their quality of life, as well as to cover future medical costs connected with the accident.

Lingering Whiplash Pain Case Results
Our client was driving northbound on Redwood Road in Taylorsville, Utah, when another driver exited a restaurant parking lot and attempted to make a U-turn in front of our client, causing a T-bone collision. Without proper warning, our client wasn’t able to stop and prevent the collision. The crash was so severe that our client’s air bags were triggered on impact. Unfortunately, our client didn’t feel the effects of the accident right away and refused medical care. However, after the shock subsided, our client felt extreme pain in his neck. Once seen by a doctor, he was diagnosed with whiplash and a broken collarbone in connection with the accident. The pain felt by our client left him unable to work, sleep, or enjoy his life to the extent he had prior.
With the events of this case in mind, we strongly advise seeking medical attention immediately following an accident. Severe symptoms of head, neck, and spinal injuries can be delayed due to shock and will often worsen without treatment without you realizing. Although our client didn’t initially feel any pain, he accrued over $40,000 in medical expenses in connection with his accident. After negotiations with attending physicians, as well as auto and health insurance providers, our attorneys achieved a settlement that paid for his medical and legal fees, as well as his lost wages. Additionally, our client was able to pocket $31,000 dollars to compensate for the pain and suffering he experienced from the accident.

Slip & Fall Accident Case Results
Our client took her vehicle for an oil change in Salt Lake City, Utah to have it serviced. As she lived near the business, she decided to walk home instead of waiting in the lobby for them to complete the maintenance. Due to rain and snow in the days prior to her visit, water had runoff from the roof of the business and formed an ice sheet in the parking lot. Our client slipped and fell on the ice due to negligence on the business owner’s part failing to mitigate via salt or warning signs.
Upon impact, our client felt her ankle fracture and was unable to stand, much less walk. She called for help to no avail before crawling back to the front door to get assistance. An employee found our client and contacted her husband to come and pick her up. When approached by our client, the business owner admitted that he had not gotten around to applying ice melt to the ice in the parking lot or putting out any kind of warning sign. Under Utah law, property owners have a duty to mitigate dangerous conditions such as ice by removing the dangerous factor or clearly marking it to prevent customers or “invitees” from being injured on the property.
Our attorneys negotiated with the relevant insurance providers and after our client’s medical and legal fees were paid, she was able to pocket $63,000 to compensate her for pain, suffering, and future medical costs related to the accident.

Right-of-way Car Accident Case Results
Our client was travelling eastbound on 12th Street in Ogden, Utah when another driver travelling westbound made a left turn without yielding to our client’s right-of-way. As a result, our client did not have the time necessary to stop or maneuver to prevent an accident, causing her to T-bone the other vehicle at high speed. Due to the severity of the crash, the engine block in our client’s car came through the front of the car, splitting her kneecap in half, the treatment for which amounted to $60,000.
Initially the other driver’s insurance company denied coverage, saying that they had canceled the policy a few days earlier. Our attorneys were able to force the other driver’s insurance to pay out her policy limits of $25,000.00. Unfortunately, our client also only had state minimum underinsured motorist limits of $25,000.00, leaving only $50,000.00 in available insurance coverage. Our team negotiated with her health insurance provider and her other health care providers to reduce the costs of her medical expenses. After our fees and all medical bills were handled, our client was still able to pocket $12,000 to compensate her for pain, suffering, and future medical costs related to the accident.

Rear-End Accident Case Results
Our client was traveling southbound through heavy traffic on Highland Drive in Cottonwood Heights, Utah when the flow of traffic slowed significantly. Once moving through stop-and-go traffic, our client came to a complete stop behind the other vehicles ahead of him. The driver behind our client, however, failed to come to a stop, rear-ending our client. Where our client was boxed in by traffic, he was unable to maneuver to prevent the accident.
Because of the force of the collision, our client sustained severe injuries to his neck and right shoulder. These injuries created a great deal of pain for our client, and because of the extent of the damage and tearing of the tissue, he was unable to work or enjoy life to the extent he had been able to prior. Treatment and rehabilitation amounted to just over $20,000 in medical expenses connected to the accident.
Our attorneys negotiated with our client’s auto and health insurance providers to obtain a settlement that covered both his medical and legal fees. Additionally, our client was able to pocket $32,000 to compensate him for pain, suffering, and future medical costs related to the accident.

Failure to Yield Accident Case Results
Our client was driving eastbound on Highway 193, a four-lane highway in Layton, Utah when another driver failed to yield to our client’s right-of-way at a two-way stop. After coming to a stop at the intersection of Highway 193 and North Hills Drive, the other driver failed to yield to our client’s right-of-way and proceeded southbound through the intersection, causing our client to T-bone the other vehicle at high speed. The impact of the crash was severe enough to trigger our client’s airbags and caused our client to sustain serious and extensive injuries to his neck, back, shoulders, and head.
Thankfully, our client had sufficient auto insurance policy limits and was restrained by his seatbelt, preventing far more serious injuries, paralysis, or death. Nonetheless, our client had to receive treatment for over a year and a half following the accident, including costly surgeries on both shoulders, that amounted to $76,000 in medical bills. Our attorneys negotiated with insurance providers and, after settling all medical and legal fees, our client was able to pocket $51,000 to compensate him for pain, suffering, and future medical costs related to the accident.
